RAIPUR, AUG. 30. The Chhatisgarh Government today promulgated an ordinance against ragging which makes it a cognisable offence entailing a prison term and a fine.
Under the Anti-Ragging Ordinance 2001, anyone found guilty of ragging could be sentenced upto five years of imprisonment or a fine of Rs. 5,000 or both.
Any ragging related trial will be conducted only in the court of a First Class Judicial Magistrate, and the Ordinance-2001 will be applicable throughout the State in all government, semi- government and private educational institutions.
The guilty student will be removed from the institute and barred from entering the campus and the hostel also.
