Girl dies in wall collapse

BANGALORE: A 14-year-old girl working at a construction site was killed when the compound wall of an adjoining building collapsed on her at Azad Nagar in Chamarajpet police station limits on Saturday.

The police said the girl identified as Tirumadi and her mother, Chinnapillai (40), were working along with 12 others at a site next to the house of Krishnappa.

When the workers were removing the earth next to the compound wall, a weak part of the wall collapsed on Tirumadi. Her mother and the other workers escaped. The girl was immediately shifted to Victoria Hospital, where she died, the police said.

Boy killed

Kiran (12), a resident of Nagasandra, was killed when he was knocked down by a water tanker on Nagasandra Main Road on Friday.

The police said the accident occurred when the boy, studying in Class VII, was returning to his grandparents' house from a shop.

The Peenya police have registered a case and seized the water tanker.

They are on the lookout for the driver of the water tanker.
