Gang kills hotel owner, takes away cash

BANGALORE, OCT. 3. A hotelier was bludgeoned to death at his fast food joint in Byatarayanapura Police limits and robbed of Rs.10,000 in cash by a three-member gang in the early hours of Thursday.

Lokesh Shetty (35), owner of Sapthagiri Fast Foods located opposite KIMCO Factory in Deepanjalinagar, was found dead with his head smashed.

Police said that the three-member gang had joined Shetty's hotel as suppliers and cleaners on Wednesday.

After the hotel was closed, Shetty and the three new employees slept in the ground floor of the hotel, while the others, as usual, slept in the first floor.

At 4 a.m. (on Thursday), one of the employees came to the ground floor and found Shetty in a pool of blood. The three new employees had murdered Shetty and made away with the cash, police said.

Shetty, who was a bachelor hailing from Udupi, had set up the hotel about a year ago. Earlier, along with his brother, Jayaram Shetty, he was running a hotel in Talaghatapura. The Byatarayanapura Police have taken up a case. Investigation is on.

Mishap victim dies

Rajagopal (52), a resident of Vidyaranyapura, was grievously injured after he dashed his scooter against a road median near Nagaland Circle on BEL Road in Jalahalli Police limits at 12.30 a.m. on Thursday. He died on the way to a hospital. Yeshwanthapur Traffic Police have registered a case.


Thieves broke into a provision store located on Rasildar Street in Seshadripuram Police limits on Wednesday and took away Rs.10,000 in cash. Police have registered a case of burglary following a complaint by the shop keeper, Hasan.

Body found

The body of a man, aged 35, was found hanging from a tree near Vengaiah Tank in T.C.Palya in K.R.Puram Police limits. The body has been shifted to Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital Mortuary.
