Four women held

MANGALORE: The Kavoor police have arrested four women, believed to be part of a gang of seven women who allegedly robbed people at public places such as temple fairs. They have been identified as Neela, Muthumari, Panchami and Janakamma from Palakkad in Kerala.

Police said they were accused of stealing gold jewellery from a woman during a temple fair at Thottamajalu near here on Thursday.

Police picked them up for questioning on suspicion and reportedly recovered the jewellery from their possession.

They were subsequently arrested and produced before a court here, which remanded them in judicial custody till April 29.

Body found

The Kavoor Police on Saturday recovered the body of a person reported missing since Monday. Police identified the victim as Mahadevappa (43) of Bijapur, who had come here in search of work.
