Four arrested on murder charge

BANGALORE, MAY 27. The Jnana Bharathi police on Wednesday arrested four persons on the charge of murdering Nisar Pasha (23) of Gangondanahalli.

Pasha's body bearing stab injuries was found in the woods behind the Sports Authority of India complex on Bangalore University premises on Tuesday.

The police said Syed Farooq (22), Mudassir (20), Ibrahim (21) and Samiullah (22) murdered Pasha for having an affair with Farooq's sister.


A labourer, who was digging a trench, was electrocuted on Thursday when his crowbar came in contact with an underground electric cable near the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board quarters in Nayandahalli.

The victim, Huchappa (25), a resident of Channasandra, hailed from Kollegal taluk in Chamarajanagar district.

The Byatarayanapura police have registered a case.

Chain snatched

A youth snatched a gold chain worth Rs. 4,000 from a woman near a marriage hall at T. Dasarahalli in the Peenya police station limits on Thursday. A case has been registered.

Vans recovered

The City Crime Branch officials arrested N. Nagarajan alias Murthy (35) of Tamil Nadu and recovered from him five vans. The accused had stolen the vans from various parts of the city, the police said.

Woman held

The High Grounds police on Wednesday arrested Priya George (26) of Tamil Nadu and recovered gold ornaments estimated at Rs. 1.35 lakhs from her.

The police said she stole the jewellery from the house of her employer, Shahanawaz Barucha, on May 21.
