Couple robbed near HAL, two houses burgled in R.T. Nagar

BANGALORE: Four armed men broke into an ISRO employee's house in HAL police station limits in the early hours of Thursday, attacked him and his wife and looted gold jewellery estimated at Rs. 1 lakh and cash.

The police said the incident occurred around 4 a.m. at the house of Rajanna in Manjunatha Layout in Munekolalu.

The robbers, who entered the house by breaking open the main door and its grills, attacked Rajanna and Leelevathi.

They locked the couple in a room and robbed Leelavathi of her gold jewellery.

Later, they broke open the almirah and took away gold jewellery and cash that were in it. The masked robbers spoke Kannada and Telugu and were armed with choppers and clubs, the police said.

Rajanna's son Nagendra Kumar, who works with a software firm at International Technology Park Ltd., was at his workplace when the incident occurred, the police said. .

Houses burgled

Burglars struck at two houses in R.T. Nagar police station limits on Wednesday and made away with gold jewellery and silver articles estimated at Rs. 1.50 lakhs and cash.

The police said the thieves took away jewellery estimated at Rs. 1 lakh from the house of Anwar Pasha in Ex-Servicemen Colony.

The theft took place between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.

In the other incident, gold ornaments estimated at Rs. 50,000 were stolen from the house of Edwin on Krishnappa Lane.

The R.T. Nagar police have registered cases.

Mobile phones recovered

The Yelahanka police on Tuesday arrested Jagadish (23) of Sahakaranagar on charges of theft and recovered from him three mobile phones, together estimated at Rs. 27,000.

The Peenya police on Tuesday arrested two youths on charges of robbery and recovered from them a mobile phone, a gold ring and six cooing gas cylinders, all estimated at Rs. 37,000.

The names of the arrested were given as Muniraju (20) of Thigalarapalya and Vasanth Kumar (20) of T. Dasarahalli.

Bag snatched

A man snatched a bag containing Rs. 1.50 lakhs in cash from an employee of electronics goods showroom in Madivala police station limits on Thursday afternoon.

The police said that around 1.30 p.m., Ijaz, an employee of Kundan Electronics, was walking towards UTI Bank at Bommanahalli Circle to deposit the money.

A man pretended to vomit on Ijaz, diverted his attention and snatched the bag. The Madivala police have registered a case.

Shirts seized


Three men attacked a tender coconut vendor and robbed him of a wristwatch and Rs. 100 at Sunkadakatte in Kamakshipalya police station limits in the early hours of Thursday.

The police said that around 3.30 a.m. three men forced Nagaraj to open the door of a shed in which he was sleeping.

When Nagaraj opened the door, the intruders attacked him and robbed him of the watch and the cash, the police said.

The Kamakshipalya police have registered a case.
