Computer training for Dalit students

MANGALORE, JULY 24. The Mangalore City Corporation is committed to providing computer education to Dalit students in its limits. It had to overcome resistance from certain quarters in its effort to implement the scheme, the Mayor, Purandaradas Kuloor, has said.

Inaugurating a personality development lecture series in memory of Kudmul Ranga Rao for the youth of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes organised by the National Institute of Computer Education (NICE) here on Saturday, Mr. Kuloor lauded the initiative taken by the institute in coming forward to train the Dalit youth in computer education. He advised the youth to make the best use of the opportunity.

Mr. Kuloor praised Kudmul Ranga Rao for his dedication to work tirelessly for the welfare of the Dalits at a time when they were victims of widespread social oppression. He advised the youth to inculcate the ideals of people such as Kudmul Ranga Rao, who had concern for the underprivileged sections of society.
