Centre's initiative to implement Law panel reports

NEW DELHI, JULY 12. The Centre has initiated action for early implementation of 50 pending reports of the Law Commission, pursuing the matter with the concerned Ministries/departments at the level of Law Secretary.

This follows the recommendation of a standing committee of Parliament on Home asking the Government to fix accountability in cases where the Ministries/departments concerned have not started implementation of the accepted reports.

The committee has recommended that the implementation of various reports be pursued vigorously with the administrative ministries/departments and that it be kept informed of the progress.

The Centre has also taken up with the State Governments and the Union Territory administrations the implementation, in a time- bound manner, of the reports falling under List III of the Seventh Schedule to the Constitution for implementation of those reports which fall within the Concurrent List.
