Attack has no communal overtones: Minister

AHMEDABAD, JULY 12. The Gujarat Minister of State for Home, Mr. Haren Pandya, said here that no Sangh Parivar activist was involved in the Surendranagar incident, where a nun was attacked.

He denied that Kashiram, husband of the sarpanch of Nani Katachi village, was a Bajrang Dal activist and said that the alleged attack had no communal overtones.

Mr. Pandya refuted the allegation that the local police initially refused to register complaints by the Christian missionaries.

Mr. Pandya said he had no information on the assault of Sister Lissy; nor did the clauses incorporated in the police complaints indicate any physical assault on her.

Police had registered it as a case of looting and had already recovered most of the loot.
