BANGALORE: President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam was given a warm welcome on his arrival on a two-day visit to Bangalore on Friday night.

Dr. Kalam was received at the airport by Governor T.N. Chaturvedi, Chief Minister N. Dharam Singh and top officials of the State Government and the State police.

The President is scheduled to take part in a series of programmes in the city. He will inaugurate the leadership conclave of the Confederation of Indian Industry on Saturday morning and then the National Summit of the All-India Motor Transport Congress.

The President would then go to the Central College Campus of Bangalore University for inaugurating the silver jubilee celebrations of the Karnataka State Vigyan Parishad, before returning for lunch at the Raj Bhavan.

In the afternoon, he will deliver the J.R.D. Tata Memorial Lecture at the National Institute of Advanced Studies and later participate at a function in the Indian Institute of Science, to honour C.N.R. Rao.

The President will wind up his Bangalore visit after participating in the centenary celebrations of the Bangalore Gayana Samaja and emplane for Delhi around 7 p.m.
