The Chhattisgarh police allegedly killed one member of the Communist Party of India (Maoist) in Narayanpur district, South Chhattisgarh, on Wednesday.

“An exchange of fire took place between the District Reserve Guard and the Maoists near Koylibeda today. The Maoists were caught by surprise as the security forces had entered an inaccessible area. One body of a male Maoist in uniform was recovered along with one INSAS rifle, one 315 bore rifle and other things,” said Narayanpur district Superintendent of Police(SP) Abhishekh Meena.

This was the second instance this year in Narayanpur district when an INSAS rifle was recovered and third in the entire Bastar range. The Maoist is yet to be identified.
