dated April 24, 1959: U. S. on Soviet protest

The U. S. State Department said in Washington on April 22 that the Soviet Union had shown a hypocritical attitude in its notes to the U. S. and West Germany warning against the supply of nuclear arms to the North Atlantic Treaty Allies. It described the note as “propaganda” on the eve of the Western Big Four Foreign Ministers’ conference opening in Paris on April 29.
