Women making it to the top

MORE women are setting out to launch their own businesses these days. Some do it to achieve a sense of independence and flexibility.

Others do it to perform an end run around the predominantly male-dominated power structure to become the CEO of their own firms.

Be it a one-person shop juggling a dozen outsourced tasks or a multi-million dollar enterprise setting new profit records, thousands of women are calling the shots, taking the heat and making the payroll.

Advancing women are here to support everyone with information, resources and tools for networking.

On the occasion of International Women's Day, Electrolux India has launched its first `All Women Electrolux Home', an exclusive outlet in Chennai on Tuesday.

Keeping the exclusive women audience in mind, these showrooms are unique in interiors and architecture, according to Ajay Kapila, vice-president (sales and marketing), Electrolux India.

By the end of 2005, it will have five more such outlets.
