Torch of literacy

"I AM Mahatma," pat came the reply. The chief guest was delighted at the little boy's words, for he had only asked his name. But the child seemed to relish the role he had donned. Well, it was a day to remember for the tribal students of the Montfort Community School at Koravankadu in Yercaud Hills. It was Bapu's birth anniversary celebrations at the school. Children treated the chief guest, the DGP of Tamil Nadu, I.K. Govind, to a variety of cultural programmes. The DGP, in his parting speech, asked the students to light up the lives of tribals with the torch of literacy.
