'Sweating, Sweet moment'

IF THERE is a sense of involvement, everything is taken in the stride. It was amply evident on the premises of the Yadava College on Monday.

Unmindful of the scorching heat, over 1,500 students and hundreds of teaching and non-teaching staff kept standing for nearly an hour in connection with the District Collector, S. Ramachandran's visit. Only on the previous day, they had celebrated the Republic Day by selling handloom products worth Rs 10.7 lakhs to the public, to the delight of the weaving community.

The Collector was invited to preside over a function in which the amount was to be handed over to the weavers' cooperative societies, from where the products were procured. The students were in high spirits throughout, and, the Collector, who came in handloom attire, was spontaneously overwhelmed by the `massive sight' of thousands clad in handloom clothes. Seldom does such sweating moments turn sweet.
