AFTER NEARLY a 10-year stint in south Indian cinema, spanning 80 films, actress Suganya is taking on a new role. Not on screen but rather off it.

She is trying her hand at becoming a music composer and a lyricist. Trained in classical arts in Kalakshetra, Chennai, Suganya's first cassette titled `Azhagu' is set for release on Sunday.

Suganya says: "I penned the lyrics and composed the music. I wanted the cassette to be released by poet Valee and composer Viswanathan. The first copy of the CD will be handed over by my mentor-director Bharathiraja to actress Lakshmi.

The `Azhagu' album has 10 songs which have been rendered by S.P. Balasubramaniam, S. Janaki, K.S. Chitra, Nithyashree Mahadevan, Harish Ragavendra, Srinivas, Karthick and Sriram.
