Statistics seminar

STATISTICS IS not mere collection of data. If the raw data is analysed properly, it will provide useful insight. Statistics is also an important instrument in research, especially if the area of study pertains to commerce, business and economics.

A state-level workshop on `Application of Statistics in Research in the Field of Commerce' organised by the Department of Commerce, Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Science for Women, threw light on some of the emerging trends in research.

There were a number of technical sessions and presentations on statistical tools like correlation, regression, factor and cluster analyses.

The highlight of the seminar was the session on database structuring by V.S.R. Vijayakumar, faculty, ICFAI Business School, Chennai. Participants were also trained on how to create databases by applying simple statistical tools.
