Regulating kerosene business

THE MADURAI district administration has initiated tough measures to prevent retail kerosene license holders from violating the norms in selling beyond areas demarcated for them. Following a direction from the Collector, D. Raajendiran, District Supply Officials ordered all 324 retail license holders in the district to bring their barrels to the Collectorate today. The areas where the kerosene should be sold and the price per litre were marked on each barrel. The seller should get the customers' signatures in a notebook, the quantity of kerosene sold in a week should be marked on the barrel and the commodity should be sold only in areas demarcated for them. The product should be sold only at the specified rate. Any deviations could be reported to the District Supply Officers over the phone at 2532501 to 2532505.
