Punjabi stars at Baisakhi Mela

Here is a wonderful opportunity to witness pop singer Mika and actor Chunkey Pandey perform live in Delhi. The duo will be the top attraction at Baisakhi Mela being held at the Ramlila grounds in Ashok Vihar Phase II on April 18 and 19.

A beautiful stage with laser lights has been designed for the cultural programme. Apart from Mika and Chunkey Pandey, other top names in Hindi and Punjabi entertainment industry including comedian Birbal, actor Joginder and actress Upasana Singh will be performing. To make sure everyone gets to see the performers, large screens have been placed. The event can also be watched live on Siti Cable.

Organised by Rashtriya Punjabi Mahasangh, it is a popular annual event aimed at complete family entertainment. Games and rides like the ferris wheel and toy train will add value to the event. Food stalls have also been arranged so that it can be a complete night out for the family.

A lucky draw will be held on both days and prizes to be won include gold chain, diamond ring, Nokia phones, Titan watches, inverters and VCDs. Says the organisation head, Mohinder Nagpal: "The mela has no religious connotations. It provides a perfect excuse to bring everyone together and enjoy.''

On the occasion, Mika and Joginder will be presented the Kalpana Chawla Award for making the Punjabi community proud. The BJP's spokesman, Vijay Kumar Malhotra, the Union Labour Minister, Sahib Singh Verma, and the Delhi BJP chief, Madan Lal Khurana, will be among those attending the two-day mela.
