Promoting Tamil

`TELEPHONE,' `READY,' `tiffin,' `cellphone,' `bedroom,' `kitchen,' `bucket,' to name a few, are some of the English words that are extensively used in everyday speech. But this should not prevail forever, maintains the Pattali Makkal Katchi, which has taken upon itself the task of propagating Tamil equivalents for words frequently used in daily communication. This `crusader' for use of Tamil in everyday communication has put up huge hoardings at the Railway Junction and Mattuthavani Integrated Bus Stand urging the public to use chaste Tamil words. These hoardings carry chaste Tamil equivalents.
