Preparing ground

IT HAS nothing to do with polls. While maintaining this, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has put into action a plan to mobilise its cadre and establish contact with the electorate in municipalities that are to go to polls in the coming months.

The other day, the former Union Minister, Bandaru Dattatreya, led a `padayatra' in Kukatpally Municipality, which had the senior leader along with party workers marching through the slums and colonies. Almost every door was knocked and the yatra team spared no effort to drill the message on neglect of civic amenities by the present Government.

When presspersons sought to know if the party is gearing up for municipal polls, Mr. Dattatreya brushed aside the question and said it was just an exercise on part of the party to remain in contact with people. "It is not about elections." But then one may ask, why only in localities that are headed for polls?
