Longest ‘blood moon’ eclipse at midnight

The longest total lunar eclipse of this century will coincide with Mars’ closest approach in 15 years to offer skygazers a thrilling experience on Friday, astronomers say. The partial eclipse of the moon would start at 11:54 p.m. IST on July 27 and the total eclipse would start at 1 a.m. on July 28. It will last for 103 minutes, making it the longest eclipse of the 21st century.PTI
