Not child's play

THE TIRUNELVELI Corporation recently decided to establish four parks, one each at Sripuram, Veeraraghavapuram, Veerabhagu Nagar, Gandhi Nagar and Rajiv Gandhi Nagar at Teachers' Colony, at a cost of Rs.12 lakhs. But, the playing equipments in the existing parks are in bad shape.

The twin towns of Tirunelveli and Palayamkottai have no other recreation centres and the children in these towns have to make do with the small corporation parks.

VOC Grounds in Palayamkottai is the major crowd-puller during the summer vacation, but the play equipments such as swings and slides here are damaged and require immediate attention.

They must be set right before the summer vacation begins.
