CHENNAI: Chennai joins select cities in the country to launch a new laser-driven vision correction procedure for short-sightedness, long-sightedness and astigmatism.

The Zyoptix-Advanced Lasik Laser Vision correction procedure is being popularised in a big way by Bausch and Lomb through simultaneous seminars across the country on weekends this month till June 19.

These seminars are scheduled at Chennai, New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Trichy, Coimbatore, Baroda and Pune in association with leading hospitals. In Chennai, Dr. Agarwal Eye Hospital is the collaborating partner for the seminars which will update the public on the technology, procedural details, cost, safety aspects and expected outcomes.

According to Bausch and Lomb, around 30 crore people in India require vision correction and the new lasik laser procedure offers a permanent solution to near-sight, far sight and astigmatism.

The internationally approved procedure is computer-controlled, virtually painless and takes just about five minutes to complete.

In India, there is a lack of understanding and awareness regarding laser treatment and the seminars will seek to address this factor.
