BEFORE THE Diwali din created by the Kollywood crackers settles down, others are slowly gearing up to compete with the survivors of the Diwali releases.

First, there is `Matrix Revolutions', released by Warner, that will make history on November 5 when it releases all over the world in 20,000 theatres, at the very same time. 7-30 p.m. IST. "Everything that has a beginning has an end," goes the tag-line for the final instalment of the Wachowski brothers' futuristic epic saga of man versus machines and good versus evil.

The film is expected to be out in the Sathyam complex. So watch that advance booking counter.

For lighter viewing, there is the Eddie Murphy starrer `Daddy Day Care' hitting the screens on Friday. As a run up to the release of the movie, the publicists Pratika, will organise a `Daddy, Hit Eddie, Win Teddy Event' contest for the superdads in Chennai to win cuddly teddies for their kids.

The promotional contest will be held at Landmark, Spencer Plaza between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Bollywood's only big release this season, critically acclaimed `Pinjar', will also roll out onto Chennai screens. The Urmila Matondkar- Manoj Bajpai starrer directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi, premiered at the International Film Festival of India in Delhi recently.
