Kamal strikes the chord right

GUESS WHO the Communist Party of India (Marxist) is happy with now? Nallasivam. For those who have not seen the movie yet, it is the bespectacled, scarfaced protagonist in `Anbe Sivam'. Kamal Hasan has struck a chord with the communist parties thanks to his portrayal of a left-leaning street theatre performer in the movie `Anbe Sivam'. In fact, they were so impressed, representatives of the CPI (M) met Kamal at his office to congratulate him about his approach in the Pongal release. CPI (M) state secretary N. Varadarajan and Central Committee memberT.K. Rangarajan felicitated the actor and also urged him to deliver more movies with a social message.

Interestingly, the song `Nattukoru', in the movie was written by Pralayan, noted street theatre personality, in Chennai. The song itself is a picturisation of a typical street theatre performance.

Earlier during the week, Kamal was busy striking the right note with journalists. Participating in a small function in the Journalists Colony in Srinivasapuram, Thiruvanmiyur, he proudly recalled his association with the tribe of journalists.

Apparently the Padma Shri awardee once worked on a paper called `Maiyyam'. At the function, he also announced his intention to support reviews of serious Tamil cinema.
