Interact more

Kerala lays claim to the best health indices in the country, but in mental health it can be rated as the worst; despite a very high literacy level.

Nuclear families, lack of concern for fellow-beings, changing values in life, etc., are all contributors to this state of affairs. We have to substitute such deficiencies with acceptable modern-day ideas. Common grounds of physical and cultural convergence have to be found. The establishment of `centres of interaction' in every nook and corner can facilitate people in that locality to socialise better. Residents' associations can also play a very big role in running such centres and organising events. This could go a long way to reduce the tendency of suicide.
