BEAUTY WITH A PURPOSE: Miss India beauties doing their bit for the pulse polio drive.

BARELY 18-months-old, Suesha Gauri could not possibly understand all the attention around her. But she was flashing a lovely smile. The kind of which only kids can flash. Everyone at the venue was beaming.

Each one of the organisers wanted to grab a bouquet and give it to the beauties. But only some had the privilege and be photographed with the lovely lasses. Some guys have all the luck, buddy! Three of the latest entrants into the world of beauty, the winners of the Fa Femina Miss India Contest were the cynosures of all eyes. And they seemed to be enjoying every bit of the new-found fame.

But what was the event? Care Hospital and the Rotary Club of Secunderabad (District 3150) utilised the opportunity of the beauties being present in the city by asking them to visit the hospital for a few minutes. What were they supposed to do? Administer polio drops to babies as it was the day of the second round of Pulse Polio Immunisation programme. Apart from keeping on a dazzler of a smile all the time, of course.

The facial muscles stretched as they sported a smile all the time. Neha, Shruti and Reshmi, who were crowned Miss India Universe, Miss India World and Miss India Earth respectively, were present at the hospital in Banjara Hills. The stress of the past few days of hectic activity appeared to have been temporarily forgotten with the happiness of the crowning on Saturday evening.

And so we have lucky Suesha, daughter of Narender and Ashu, and yet another kid hogging all the attention.

With the beauty queens around them, the flashbulbs went poppitty-pop without a break.

After they wore the Pulse Polio jacket and a red cap and accepted beautiful momentoes, the bevies promised to do their bit in eradicating polio from the country.

For the Rotarians, including the district governor, Ravi Vadlamani, the president of the club, Prshant Lahoti, and the secretary, Surendar Bantia, it was an occasion they would never forget.

It is not often that one gets a chance to hob-nob with Miss India beauties, right!
