Guzzle and be happy

IN CHENNAI, auto fuel users can now check into any Indian Oil vending counter, `IOC Xtra', swipe their My Shoppe smart card and earn gifts against their points for purchase of petrol, diesel or lubes. Captain of the Indian Davis Cup tennis team and the country's veteran tennis player Ramesh Krishnan received the first card on Wednesday.

In his sharp tennis-stroke like speech he said that his family was one of the oldest distributors of Indane LPG and as a sportsperson it was a matter of pride for him that two members of the Davis Cup Sunil Kumar and Rohan Bopanna and many other sportspersons were with IOC.

M. Subramaniam, Managing Director, One to One Marketing Solutions India, which is managing the back-end operations of the cash reward programme through their My Shoppe card said the card was open to all customers who drove into Indian Oil outlets, including auto rickshaw drivers, truck drivers and taxi owners.

The scheme offered free personal accident cover of Rs. One lakh to the card member for one year.

After studying that most of the payment for fuel was done by cash, the card was introduced and can be used by the customer in any My Shoppe establishments like grocery shops, medical shops and restaurants.

The card does not bear any signature and any member of the family can use it and earn reward points.

A warning for those who may be using others' cards: every purchase that they may make against a lost card will score points for the real owner!

It is issued immediately upon paying the fee and filling up a form. If against the points scored the customers chose to get petrol or diesel, it is immediately given.

If they chose to avail of any My Shoppe gifts ranging from a lipstick to a mixer grinder, the goods will be delivered to their address in four to six weeks' time. One-to-One has 2000 diversified merchant establishments under the programme spread across 20 cities in India with more than 2.5 lakh cards.
