Govt. has a role to play

Sir, -- The advent of globalisation and rapid strides in science and technology saw the emergence of a powerful enlightened upward mobile middle class resulting in the increased demands for seats in professional colleges. The Government alone cannot meet this demand and participation of private sector is necessary. However, education is a social service where people have a social responsibility. Hence the fee structure in private sector should be judiciously decided to stop profiteering while making the institutions economically viable. The Government has a social responsibility to do this and private sector cannot object to this. The Government should go for necessary legislation to enforce this principle or else higher education sector will become the exclusive preserve of the rich.
