GAMES AND magic - what more do kids want? No wonder, the `Children's Carnival' organised in the Ball Room of The Residency proved to be such a hit.

The show started sharp at noon. Little ones came in smiling ready for the fun and frolic. A few who dropped in an hour or two late, looked worried. So were their parents. Only after they were informed that the show would go on till 8 p.m., did they heave a sigh of relief.

The first item was Christmas jingles. Even as the children kept tapping their feet in excitement, stepped in Santa Claus with his sack filled with goodies. Some kids wished Santa a `Merry X'mas', while others didn't budge. Yet, all got their share of balloons and chocolates.

There were 21 games in all. Organisers seemed to concentrate on computer games. The seven terminals put up were occupied throughout.

`Lucky Lollipop', `Find my Partner', `Basket the Balloon', `Hoopla', `Feed Santa', `Fish a Bottle', `Mehandi Tattoo', `Treasure Hunt' and `Hobby Corner' were some of the stalls that caught the fancy of the kids, who were split into two age groups (three to seven and seven to 14).

Besides games, the little ones also got to watch magician Jammu, who came up with a bagful of tricks. "I have been coming here for the last two years. I wish they extend such shows by at least a couple of days," said Jane, a seven-year-old.

"My daughter has been requesting me to take her to the show ever since she saw the advertisement. Now, I understand why she wanted to be here. If I am enjoying the whole show then just guess how my kid would," remarked Marian, a parent.
