Final countdown

AS THE campaign for the byelection to Asifnagar entered the last lap, the key contenders have stepped up their efforts in reaching out to the electorate.

The countdown has begun and the candidates of Congress, TDP and the MIM are sparing no opportunity to garner support among voters.

Rallies, meetings and `padayatras' have become common in the constituency with one candidate after another making an entry into the lanes and bylanes seeking votes. And the next few days appear set to witness heightened activity as the key contenders are expecting participation of senior leaders in the campaign.

While the Congress camp is expecting the Chief Minister, Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, to campaign for D. Nagender, the TDP candidate, Arvind Kumar Goud, says the party chief, N. Chandrababu Naidu, will tour the constituency. So, brace up for long and winding traffic snarls.
