Extend help

People usually commit suicide on the spur of the moment when they feel that there is no way out of a particular crisis. Counselling centres can go a long way in helping these people to recover. The Government and private organisations may arrange seminars to instil the notion of facing life with an iron heart.

Awareness has to be created about the need to settle disputes amicably. Indifference towards others' problems should be avoided. Relatives, friends and neighbours can do a lot to bring a person who is on the verge of suicide back to life. Society also has the obligation to help those who have made unsuccessful suicide attempts to put their lives back on the rails.

They should not be shunned. The Government should provide financial assistance to those who are in dire need so that they get a chance to rebuild their lives.
