Exhibiting excellence

THE MADURAI Corporation bagged three prizes at the recently concluded four-day City Tech 2005, an exhibition conducted at Chennai to display the infrastructural development in urban local bodies. The Corporation got the best stall prize for wide range of exhibits with more informative displays.

The officials of the local body utilised the opportunity to showcase the facilities available in the city, such as the 24-hour hospital, underground drainage, Vaigai River Reclamation Project, traffic islands and innovative way of floating bonds to raise funds to lay the ring road.

Besides, the Eco Park got another prize for the local body in the category, innovative and exclusive development project. The officials' efforts to allot a separate stall for members of self-help groups also got wide appreciation.

A video capsule on the three-and-half-year's achievement of the present council was also projected at the exhibition.

The Commissioner (in-charge), C. Rajamani, the City Engineer, K. Sathivel, the Assistant Executive Engineer, P.R. Ramkumar and the Public Relations Officer, M.P. Anbuchozhan, made meticulous arrangements for the exhibition.
