Drama award in YGP's name

IT WAS a gathering that comprised top stars of Tamil screen recently. Vijayakanth, with his newly elected office-bearers, was present to witness the play of their committee member Y. Gee. Mahendra's "Kathalikka Neeramundu." After watching the play, Sarath Kumar said he was very much interested in acting in a play.

"After seeing the play enacted by Mahendra I wanted to act in a play. I also request Mrs. YGP to give admission to the actor's wards in Padma Sheshadri School." Vijayakanth acceded to the requests for instituting an award for drama named after the late Y.G. Parthasarathy and another award (for direction) in memory of legendary director K. Subrahmanyam and said the awards would be given from next year.

"I wanted to do some good things for the artists and I would like to continue it to the maximum level possible. For now we have decided to give pension for 400 old artists and it will be started very soon."

Director SP. Muthuraman, committee members Radha Ravi and Manorama besides, Mrs. Y.G. Parthasarathy, spoke.
