Designer wear and curios galore!

For all occasions

A FASCINATING array of reasonably-priced designer wear greets you at Turquoise, an exhibition-cum-sale of clothing and bric-a-brac at the Little Wings pre-school, Race Course.

If you had kept away from designer labels simply under the impression they were expensive, it's time you made a trip to this place.

On offer are sarees, short tops, kurtis, kurtas, mix-and-match sets, stoles, dupattas, candles and articles made from tree-free materials.

So, you have good old vazhaithandu and other natural fibres transformed into snazzy carry bags. "Even the dye used is vegetable. So, these bags are cent per cent eco-friendly," says Jayashree Narsiman of Turquoise.

You could also choose paper prepared from the same material, which can be used as gift wrappers and the like.

The three designers whose creations are exhibited are Viba and Ananya from Chennai and Elan from Bangalore.

Most people mix and match kurtas. Taking off from that, Ananya has created a set priced at Rs. 1,250, which consists of two kurtas that can be worn with one salwar, and a dupatta.

Also impressive are the elegant white kurtas with minimal work.

Unstitched sets have also been exhibited at the sale, which closes today.
