Creative plans

It was a drawing competition, but one with a difference. The participants were expected to draw house plans. In a professional way.

The State-level `House Plan Drawing Competition' for school children organised by the Yasoram Charitable Trust is already into its tenth edition.

According to the organisers, 11 students from the L.P. section, 25 from U.P. and 31 from the high school section participated in the competition."We organise this competition every year to attract more children to the fields of architecture and civil engineering,'' said A.R.S. Vadhyar, Yasoram trustee. The competition involved drawing the plan of a single storied house with an area of 950-1000 sq.feet on a 1:100 scale.

In the high school category, Noumin A. A., Al-Ameen Public School, Edappally, Priyanka Francis, St. Joseph English Medium School, Thrikakkara and Nikhil Raj R., S.D.P.Y.B.H.S.S, Palluruthy were adjudged winners for the first, second and third positions respectively. While G. R. Sethu, M. G. Public School, Ambadimala, Amjo Antony, Toc-H Public School, Vytilla and Dina Rose C. J. and Akhil Raj, both from St. Dominics EMUP School, Palluruthy won prizes in U.P. section, Rahul Rajeev, VHSS, Chottanikkara, B. Keerthana Rani, Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Thripunithura and Bonny Baby, MG Public School, Ambadimala won prizes in the L.P. section.
