Cops on tenterhooks

The outbreak of communal trouble in Kishanbagh, which lead to the death of a person, has put the city police on tenterhooks.

Even as the police were gearing up for the bandobust for the anniversary of Babri Masjid demolition, the communal flare-up indeed set rumour mills working overtime.

Even as heavy police contingents rushed to the troubled areas to contain the violence, rumours were flying thick and fast. But fortunately, not much significance was attached to these rumours, and the old city was absolutely peaceful though a bit tense.

The last time the city witnessed the communal violence was just a day after the Assembly was dissolved.

And now, passions are sought to be roused again. Is there a method in this madness?
