Centenary celebrations

THE CHIEF Election Commissioner, T.S. Krishnamurthy, may not make it to the conclusion of the centenary celebrations of his old school but he will visit it soon.

Other old boys, including the Minister, Allum Veerabhadrappa, will be present when St. Joseph's Indian High School on Grant Road brings its celebrations to a close on Sunday.

It had a humble beginning in 1904 in the basement of the school meant for European children and shifted in 1907 to the spacious building that now houses the St. Joseph's Evening College at the Museum Road-Residency Road Junction.

In the 1960s, it moved to its present location. In 1937, the management of the school was transferred to the Society of Jesus.

The valedictory function will also see the presence of Peter-Hans Kolvenbacj, Superior General of the Society of Jesus, who is coming here for the special occasion.
