Celebration time

RUNNING A matriculation school in a rural area for more than 25 years is not an easy task. Hence the silver jubilee of the Navarasam Matriculation Higher Secondary School at Palliyuthu, a remote village located 25 kilometres from Erode, was truly an occasion to celebrate.

The Finance Minister, C. Ponnaiyan, the Hindu Religious & Charitable Endowments Minister, P.C. Ramasamy, noted educationalist and correspondent of Bharathiya Vidhya Bhavan, Coimbatore, Krishnaraja Vanavarayar and the president of the Erode District Consumers Protection Council, S.K.M. Maeilanandhen, spoke.

The silver jubilee was celebrated for three days with programmes like Kaviyarangam and Pattimandram. Speakers lauded the performance of the school, which was started in 1978 with 15 students. It now had 3,500 students with 180 teachers. The school has secured State ranks in SSLC and Plus Two exams.

The secretary and founder of the school, C. Kumarasamy, was honoured by the Minister for his selfless service to the cause of education and also for running the school successfully.
