Cable rows

THE BLACKING out of the Star TV from the city cable network has brought down the subscription fee by up to Rs. 35. However, the implementation of deduction varies from place to place. A group of operators at Melaponnagaram, Kamarajapuram and DRO Colony, who were finding it difficult to collect the subscription fee, due to frequent snapping of optic fibre cable, have found out a new way to collect the fee. Instead of nagging the subscribers for money, these operators offer attractive packages for early birds. The fee is just Rs.100 for those who pay within the first five days of the month and it goes up by Rs.20 for people who pay by the 10th day. For defaulters, the fee is Rs.150. One of the operators said the system had helped them a lot for a smooth and early collection.
