All in the game

THEY CAME in large numbers. They saw the Leader. They conquered the venue.

It was a large gathering at the Marine Drive Grounds on Monday. Every inch of the venue of the meet of Karunakaran loyalists was occupied. The question whether all those present were party activists remained insignificant as rallies, in general, are `organised' in its true sense.

The Leader occupied the centrestage. Beside him sat his son and daughter, on the podium where a hundred odd leaders of various hues were seated.

The pyrotechnics started as the Leader waved his hands to the public. It was all glitter sans sound. Soon, it was time for fireworks of the verbal kind. The words elicited cheer among the audience. The target of the shots of fury was the man at the helm of affairs in the State.

Then there were charges galore. The son fired a salvo that liquor was the lure behind a rally organised by the other group in Kottayam. While the speech was getting heated up, there was dust at a few spots on the ground. It was the result of fisticuffs over `indiscipline' on the ground. One could blame it on liquor. Else, it is all in the game.
