A new beginning

Full-blown AIDS patients and persons who have been tested HIV-positive are becoming keen on joining the mainstream of life.

Not many would have seen a matrimonial advertisement that appeared in this paper on May 15, under the section `Cosmopolitan'. The advertisement was issued from Kochi by a HIV positive person.

It went thus: `HIV positive, 29, healthy, MA (English), working in the Navy, Looking for educated girl'. The man's personal e-mail ID and the box number in which to apply followed.

This goes on to prove that at least a few persons afflicted with the deadly virus have begun to take a look at life in its fullness, sans the taboo attached to them by society. The belief is gaining ground that being HIV positive is not the end of the world for them.
