A decade of glory

In a joyful mood

A GOOD many kids and teens, who are proud of their sprightly footwork when it is time to dance, have good reason to be happy. Edwin's Dance School, more popularly known as "Footloose", is ten years old.

In fact, well over 7,000 students have learnt the elements of dance at Footloose, since 1992, when the dance school began life in the city.

M. Edwin, an engineer working in research and development, says he turned full-time choreographer owing to the enormous amount of satisfaction he gained in teaching talented young children to dance gracefully, according to their ability.

Over the past decade, students from the dance school have put up more than 220 shows at various places. Of course, the crowning glory for the students was the "Mega Cine Star Nite", in July this year, when Edwin and his students performed in Malaysia and Singapore, along with some of the leading Tamil movie stars.

Besides bagging nearly a dozen awards in both kids and adults dance competitions in the past few years, the school has been on stage during the Red Cross Society of India Charity Show, Miss Coimbatore 2001, Mega Model 2001, Miss Cotton Queen 99, Dress `N' 98 and Texin 97.

One of the main philosophies of the dance school is that anyone can learn to dance, for the only criterion is interest and a willingness to learn and practice.
