Maoists moot resolution

Prerana Marasini

KATHMANDU: The Maoists have proposed moving a resolution in the Constituent Assembly in order to resume House proceedings which they have been obstructing for the last two weeks in protest against the President’s move to retain the Army chief. But the CPN-UML, which is all set to lead a new government, and the Nepali Congress are against it. Leaders of these parties said the main issue was letting the House proceed rather than registering any motion. They also said the proposal should not be registered as a case was still pending in the

Supreme Court. However, senior Maoist leader Baburam Bhattarai said it would set a wrong precedent if civilian supremacy was not respected.
