District Legal Services Authority launches Vayosuraksha project

There are enough laws for the protection of the elderly in the State. But most elderly people are unaware of them. Even if they are aware, they do not know how to act when a need comes. This is where Vayosuraksha, the new project of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) comes into the picture.

The project, inspired by the senior citizen policy of the National Legal Services Authority, aims to provide legal help to the elderly in Kozhikode, whenever it is necessary.

Besides, it will conduct Lok adalats where their complaints will be heard and will conduct awareness programmes among the elderly as well as the general public about the laws for the protection of the elderly as well as the government schemes for them.

Timely visits to old age homes and shelters to study their problems, are also part of the project.
