The CENTA Teaching Professionals’ Olympiad, presented by The Hindu , returns for the 2018 edition

The CENTA Teaching Professionals’ Olympiad (TPO), presented by The Hindu , is back!

The 2018 edition of India’s national competition for teachers expands test centres to 45 cities in the country and two cities in the United Arab Emirates - Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

The Olympiad centres around the idea of rewarding, recognising and celebrating teachers.

This year, it is available in 20 subject tracks across Primary, Middle, Secondary and Senior Secondary School levels in English medium. The Primary track is also available in four regional language mediums this time – Hindi, Marathi, Tamil and Telugu.

Along with providing a national platform for teachers to test their skills, the Olympiad includes more than 100 cash awards (from Rs. 5,000 to 1 lakh), national recognition in The Hindu , sponsorship to attend the world’s biggest education conference in Dubai, the opportunity to co-author a book, sponsorship to train at Oxford University in the U.K., smartphones for regional language medium track toppers, and special cash awards for B.Ed. student winners. The winners also get partial scholarships to pursue CENTA Certification.

Presented by The Hindu for the fourth consecutive year as title sponsor, the event is also supported by Central Square Foundation, Oxford University Press and Varkey Foundation.

The 2017 edition saw the participation of teachers from more than 5,000 schools across over 2,000 cities, towns and villages in India.

Over the last three years, winners and participating teachers of the Olympiad have found recognition and validation of their work in multiple ways.

Teaching Professionals’ Olympiad is a flagship initiative of Centre for Teacher Accreditation (CENTA), which works to catalyse professional development through CENTA Certification, Micro-Credentials and TPO to create tangible motivation for teachers.
