3D-printed food

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to print out food and actually consume it? Sounds like fiction? Not anymore. 3-D printed food is a way of preparing a meal in an automated additive manner. The printer would deposit layers of viscous liquids to build up an object according to a user’s choice. Anything from sweet to spicy food can be printed! The only requirement is for the ingredients to be in the form of a puree. And mind you, the so-called printed food is fresh, healthy and also good for the environment. It’s also possible to cater to individual needs and preferences as it opens the doors to food customisation. Now isn’t that exciting? The culinary ways so far practised can be reinvented. Feasibility of 3D printing food in space is being studied.
