NCC students

It was an opportunity to touch and get the feel of rifles and bullets for the 1002 NCC students from various schools in and around Madurai.

A firing practice programme was conducted for six days at small arms firing ranges located at Thirupparankundram near Thiagarajar College of Engineering.

The event not only helped cadets to know and respect one another but also maintained the spirit of competition and coordination, said Col. B. Prakash Chandra, Officer Commanding of 4 (TN) Engr. Coy NCC.

The cadets, including girls, were allowed five rounds of firing each to hit the target.

After the firing sessions, the cadets were taught to improve their firing skills through various classes.

While the cadets from schools were given training in the use of bullets, loading the rifles and a few rounds of firing, 91 cadets of Thiagarajar College of Engineering were given special training in firing the .22 calibre rifle.

Col. B. Prakash Chandra and the army staff supervised the training.
