The children and teachers of Sri Sivananda Balalaya have lent a helping hand to a school affected by the tsunami. EXNORA and SCOPE, Tiruchi, gave them the idea of helping a Panchayat Union Primary School at Akkaraipettai, one of the worst hit villages in Nagapattinam. The school, which had won the best school award recently, was in need of a lot of vessels for its midday meals centre.

The children, staff and management of Sri Sivananda Balalaya collected money to buy vessels for the 700 children. The vessels were bought and handed over to the headmaster of the school, who appreciated the gesture of the children of Balalaya School.

Subbaraman, MD, SCOPE, K.G. Meenakshi, correspondent, Sivananda Balalaya, R. Indra, its academic director, Sasikala Nagarajan, headmistress, Chitra, Tamil teacher, Vijayakumar, Yoga Instructor and some children representatives of the school were present on the occasion.

The Balalaya teachers and students spent some time with the students of the Panchayat Union School, telling them stories and singing songs.
